Be What You Can't See

“Be What You Can’t See” is a collaborative documentary project in trail and ultra running. The project has developed from the idea that it can be difficult to feel part of something when you don’t see yourself reflected in it.

BWYCS

This ongoing project is about listening to, connecting with and sharing experiences...

Particularly with those often missing from dominant running narratives who are being exactly as they are.

Rather than centring performance or competition, the project documents everyday moments - personal challenges, conversations, shared miles and the ways people create space for themselves and each other outdoors.

The project is co-led with the individuals and communities involved. What’s shared, and how it’s shared, is shaped together. The approach centres consent, care and agency, so people can show up as they are.

Through a series of environmental portraits and documentary moments, the work explores how belonging is experienced - built through movement, presence and the underpinnings of human connection.
